Spring and Fall of each year Annual Type 1 Jail Supervisor and Manager Update, #98-206, 24 hours, Presented in Southern California

This program is the mandated in-service training for Type 1 Jail Supervisors and Managers. We combined the two interest groups to keep the course expenses as low as possible. The updated material is designed for persons responsible for the operation of limited term detention facilities holding juveniles and adults.

Type 1 Jail Liability Resistance
Medical Screening and "Standards of Care" for medical services in Type 1 Jails.
Mentally Ill, Developmentally Disabled and other "Protective Classes"
Substance Abusers, Drunks and Addicts in Type 1 Jail Facilities
Revisions to juveniles in law enforcement facilities regulations (as of 8/03)

Day Three:
Supervisory and Management Issues for:

‡ Juveniles in Law Enforcement Facilities - Revised Standards
‡ Using non correctional general employees in jail operations

Program Overview
This course is for Watch Commanders of Type 1 Jails. Standards of Care require the Watch Commander to review, endorse and direct a number of critical jail procedures. The course reviews the requirements and revisions of Calif. Code of Regulations Title 15, Minimum Jail Standards for Type 1 Jails and the critical decision points for such things as medical transport, non-acceptance of high risk prisoners and use-of-force in the jail. This program is highly recommended for those Watch Commanders who have received no jail specific operations training or have not reviewed their functional obligations for jail supervision in over 3 years.

* POST has allowed us to dual certify Introduction to THF Supervision and Management (24 hours), Type 1 Watch Commander Update (8 hours), Radical Islamic Offenders (8 hours)training for Peace Officers. The certifications are for training hours only. The CCR T15 §1024 Temporary Holding Facilities (THF) Basic and Biannual Training is certified for travel and per diem for distances over 60 miles.

How to use the jail training matrix. Based on jail job classification different positions have different training requirements. Where you see question marks "?" there are variations of minimum training times. In most cases, this jail training must be completed within one year of assignment to jail duties.
