Specific Types or Models of Classification Systems
(Form Design is Essential to an Effective System)

1. Subjective Classification

2. Objective Classification

3. Predictive – Social Model Classification

4. Behavior Based – Just Deserts Classification

5. Directive – Charge Based Classification

6. Security Level – Risk Assessment Classification

7. Combination Models (2 or more of other types)

7. Combinations of Models
E.G. Subjective-Object Victimization Potential Form

Combination models join elements of other systems – usually for a specific purpose. The attached Victimization Potential Form is a combination of Subjective and Objective principles.

The Subjective data, given by the inmate become objective when confirmed and verified by the screening officers. Validation is required by the follow-up questions completed by a classification officer.

Other combinations are offered throughout the course for such things as:

  • Suicide or Self Injury Risk Potential

  • Enemy or Victime Protection

  • Transgender or physically altered persons

  • Sexual Preference or Life Style

  • Emergency Medical Referral

  • Security Threat Assessment

  • Organized Crime Group Membership

  • Pre-Arraignment or Post Sentencing – Alternatives to Incarceration

  • Program, Treatment and “Rehabilitation” eligibility – qualification
