NEW & Revised Courses and Seminars!
Update on Type 1 Jail Training
Since 1984, NTE has presented Type 1 Jail specific core and annual in-service updates for supervisors and managers. We are very proud of our Type 1 Jail programs and plan to continue to provide contemporary information for Type 1 Jail supervisors, managers and executives. We now offer a web page serving the interests of Type1 Jails.
Because of the state budget crisis and withdrawal of funding for Type 1 Jails training, we have had to restructure our programs to meet revised state mandates and training provider regulations. Here is what we are doing to assist Type 1 Jails to maintain compliance to state training standards and affirm our support of liability resistance for limited term detention facilities.
- To the best of our ability - keep our pricing as low as possible. Class costs are directly related to training site costs, class sizes and agencies hosting our programs.
- We need no or low cost training sites. A number of agencies are regular hosts. This saves significant amounts of money compared to hotel prices - which are become outrageous, particularly for Audio Visual Equipment rental.
- Register for classes as soon as you can. The state requires a minimum of 16 person and we need that class size to stay in business. Please visit our Year-At-A-Glance calendar to view offerings with printable course flyers. ON-LINE REGISTRATION for NTE seminars. When classes do not reach the 16 person minimum by two (2) weeks from the offering date, we are forced to postpone that offering to another date.
- Can you host supervisory and management level programs? I prefer departmental conference rooms rather than briefing room environments for supervisors and managers. This is the link to our COURSE HOSTING PAGE so that you can see how simple it is to host.
- We strive to offer seminar schedules that match your shift coverage and need to spread training out over a 12 month calendar. Please see our Type 1 Jail Training Matrix. With very few exceptions, most government agencies disallow employee travel and per-diem outside their respective counties. This means we must offer training within commuting distance.
- Provide topics and subject matter experts that are interesting, add to professional skills and benefit Type 1 Jail organizations. Many Type 1 Jail supervisors and managers offer us suggestions and input into our program planning. Please let me know what you are interested in learning about for Type 1 Jail leadership.
There are a limited number of Type 1 Jail supervisory and management seminar offerings each calendar year. We will combine supervisory and management issues into seminars to fit a larger audience.
