My trial and deposition experience began in police work. As a Sheriff’s Sergeant, Jail and Administrative Lieutenant and Detention Facilities Administrator, Sheriff’s Captain, I testified in criminal trials and civil litigation. Civil lawsuits included defense testimony concerning county police, administrative and custodial practices. In Marin and Sonoma Counties, I was the county's expert in different federal and state civil right violation cases. I also testified in administrative law hearings concerning employment and employment practices.

After retirement, I worked 3 years for state and federal courts as an Assistant Court Compliance Officer. My duties including inspecting and auditing sheriff operations and reporting formally and informally to the trial judge.

I now provide technical assistance and expert witness services concerning jails, lockups, juvenile detention, juvenile correctional programs, standard practices for inmate classification and officer training, corrections administration standards of care for medical and psychiatric services and police, law enforcement, corrections administrative policies and practices.
