For FULL TIME DETENTION STAFF in adult institutions, as required by §T15-1020, Minimum Jail Standards. The program delivers a maximum of hands-on training in conformance with the California Correctional Officer Job Analysis and Work Performance Standards revised in 2000 and implemented in 2001. These standards require extensive testing for written skills, job knowledge, behavioral performance, and physical conditioning. On successful completion of the course, the employing agency receives a compliance certification required by the Board of Corrections. Course presentation hours can be flexible to suit host agency .
NEW REGULATIONS for Temporary & Court Holding Facilities (THF's)
As of April 2001, all California THF's and Court Holding Facilities are required to have 8 hours of refresher training once every two year after the basic 8 hour T15-1024 Specialized Training Course.

Many police departments have found the value and savings in having civilian police staff transporting prisoners. Details include crime scene to jail or THF, THF to medical clearance, pickups from other local police facilities, and transport to county jail or court facilities.
This program is intended for all staff performing criminal justice adult and juvenile transportation on a part-time or infrequent basis. Any employee transporting adult or juvenile detainees needs to be trained. Course materials include:

This course is specifically designed for temporary assignment, or non-correctional officer, staff working in a limited term adult detention facility (LTF). These general employees do not regularly supervise inmates, adult or minors, but may do so from time-to-time on an as needed basis. The topics reflect minimum orientation training for this category of law enforcement employees that presents the highest liability exposure for the department. This course can also be used to teach new employees and those not currently qualified in the basic elements of operating a temporary or court holding facility. Emphasizes protection of human life and limb to the extent possible in these short-term special purpose confinement situations.

This isan introductory course for supervisors and managers of Police and Sheriffs departments who operate a Court or Temporary Holding Facility (CHF/THF) in their law enforcement facilities. Title 15 of the California Code of Regulations (CCR) states that the Chief of Police or Sheriff are individually tasked with the responsibility of being the Jail Administrator for their Department, In most cases, the Jail Administrator appoints a Jail Manager or Command Officer to run the day by day operations of their jail by official correspondence with the California Board of Corrections (BOC). This program is particularly useful for those supervisory and management level officers who represent the chief executives interests in the CHF/THFs operation, management and administration.
This course has been streamlined to cover the issues, concerns and duties of the CHF/THF supervisor or manager operating a Temporary Holding Facility.
Topics presented will include:
- Which local, state and federal standards, regulations and other administrative issues are specifically addressed to the person responsible for the day-to-day operation of a Temporary Holding Facility.
- Legal issues of a THF Jail Administrator's and Manager's personal responsibilities.

- Training requirements for any person used to supervise adult or juvenile detainees.
- Specific issues of opposite gender supervision, surveillance and searches.

211 Juvenile Court Holding Facilities Mandated Training, 8 Hours, STC Certified.
This juvenile courts detention course is in compliance with §T15-1562 CCR for minimum training of juvenile court detention staff. Any staff, full-time or part-time, supervision minors in a court detention facility are required to have this training.We can customize the course for agency specific presentations.

- Studying and discussing the minimum detention facility standards applicable to court holding facilities
- Reviewing basis of liability for proper supervision and management of minors in court detention settings

217 THF Watch Commander and Shift Supervisor Update 8 hours, POST 8280-32221 (Travel & Per Diem Only) and STC 0736-014070 Certified.
This course is for Watch Commanders and Shift Supervisors (W/C-S/S) of Limited Term Facilities (LTF's) which are Temporary and Court Holding Facilities and Type 1 Jails. Current legal "Standards of Care" require the W/C-S/S to review, endorse and direct a number of critical jail procedures. The course reviews the requirements and revisions of Calif. Code of Regulations Title 15, Minimum Jail Standards for local detention facilities and the critical decision points for such things as medical transport, non-acceptance of high risk prisoners and use-of-force in the detention facility. This program is highly recommended for those Watch Commanders who have received no jail specific operations training or have not reviewed their functional obligations for jail supervision in over 3 years.Course covers Watch Commander and Shift Supervisor responsibilities for:
